Del. David Reid interview on recent RTD op-ed

2025 races and more!

Delegate David Reid recently penned an op-ed in the Richmond Times Dispatch entitled:

Commentary: Would you bet against Trump manipulating the stock market?

Imagine having direct access to national decision-makers whose words or actions can cause wild swings in the stock market. Now imagine you have millions — or even billions — in assets and well-connected, professional stockbrokers whose full-time job is to make you more money, whether the markets rise or fall.

Growing up poor in the mountains of Virginia, David and three of his siblings were placed at the United Methodist Children’s Home orphanage in Richmond when he was only 10 years old. He later moved to Oklahoma with foster parents and became the first person in his family’s 250-year history of living in Virginia to earn a college degree.

Del. Reid also served 23 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves as an Intelligence Officer and retired as a full Commander, which is the equivalent of a Lieutenant Colonel. He was awarded the prestigious Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal on three occasions for his leadership and the technical intelligence collected from his two deployments to South Korea while exploiting naval military equipment from the former Soviet Union.
